Adomo is a struggling scientist. She runs a gene-editing laboratory in her home and is struggling to find investors to start a pharmaceutical that manufactures sickle-cell drugs. When the government offers her a secret job, she accepts for it’s a chance to prove her credentials, and while she question her decision morally, she knows the end result will save millions of people, like her sister, who suffer from the deadly disease.
